Influence of Process Parameters on the Microstructural Characteristics and Mechanical Properties of Recast Layer Thickness Coating on Die Steel Machined Surface after Electrical Discharge Machining

The surface layer machined after electrical discharge machining (EDM) is different from it traditional methods, and studying the structure by this method will contribute significantly to selection of finishing methods. In study, SKD61 steel EDM using copper (Cu) electrode was analyzed. Technological parameters including current (Ie), pulse on time (Ton), off (Tof), voltage (Ue) were used in study. minimum recast thickness (RLT) determined Taguchi method. results showed that Ie, Ton, Tof significant influences RLT, Ue insignificant. Minimum, value RLT = 3.72 µm at process Ie 1 A, Ton 50 µs, 12 30 V. inconsistent with workability product, should be removed surface.
